Monticello driver slams into parked ambulance and SUV after Watermelon Parade.

Tallahassee, FL(JusticeNewsFlash.com  Florida personal injury lawyers News )–A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving three vehicles, two of which were parked, injured four people, on Saturday in Monticello. Apparently the Watermelon Festival parade had just ended when the serious multiple car crash occurred. The Tallahassee News reported, on Wednesday, that the driver of the moving vehicle had lost consciousness moments before the automobile accident, which happened around 11:00 a.m. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) state troopers say a Honda sedan, driven by 18 year-old Corteze Woody, was speeding at about 60 mph, east on Jefferson Street, where the posted speed limit is 25 mph. Woody remembered traveling at 15 mph before he lost consciousness. Jefferson County police officials say Woody struck the rear of a parked ambulance before hitting a parked SUV.

Monticello area emergency medical services (EMS) crews transported Woody and his sister, 4 year-old Je’mika McCray, to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) for treatment of their injuries. McCray was a passenger in Woody’s vehicle. 84 year-old Ruth G. Dibiase of Monticello, an occupant in the parked SUV, was seriously injured and transported to TMH by Florida paramedics. Dibiase’s daughter, 57 year-old Susan Simmons, of Las Vegas, had just stepped out of the SUV, and was also injured in crash. She was taken to TMH and listed in fair condition by doctors and nurses. Jefferson County police authorities have not filed charges against Woody for the multi-vehicle car wreck. Detectives continue to investigate the case. Police officers state alcohol was not a factor in the car crash. Woody has arranged an appointment to consult a physician to determine the cause of his loss of consciousness.
