The CPSC updated its previous defective Simplicity brand bassinet alert after reports of two more infant deaths. Four reported total infant deaths in Graco and Winnie the Pooh sleeper bassinets.

Florida product liability attorney Consumer Product Safety Commission alerts 4 infant deaths from defective Simplicity baby sleepers.

West Palm Beach, FL–The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov re-announced a previous defective product alert from August 2008 last Thursday, August 20, 2009. The CPSC has received four confirmed reports of infant deaths in Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible bassinets. The Close-Sleeper Bassinet and Bedside Sleeper Bassinet manufactured by Reading, Pennsylvania based Simplicity, have the Graco logo and “Winnie the Pooh” motif. Winnie the Pooh is a licensed Disney consumer Product. There have been four confirmed infant deaths and two close calls when babies heads have become trapped between the lower Velcro bassinet bar and matress supports.

One two-month old baby died in September 2008 in Demoerest, Georgia and another six-month old female died in Fort Worth, Texas after the original August 2008 CPSC recall. Consumers nationwide are strongly urged to stop using the defective bassinets immediately and refer to the CPSC defective product recall alert http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09319.html for a complete list of model numbers and pictures of the recalled baby sleepers. A complete list of retailers who voluntarily cooperated with the recall of the defective Simplicity bassinets can also be found on the website and include major retailers like, Wal-Mart Stores, Toys “R” Us, Kmart, Big Lots, Target and many other stores in various states. Because of the life-threatening hazard and serious injury risk of the Simplicity made bassinets the government agency is strongly asserting the stop use of these products immediately. If you or someone you know has suffered injury from a defective product you may be entitled to compensation for your damages. Contacting a Florida product liability attorney may help you recover from your losses.
