DC Law Firm Finds Charitable Solutions For Excess
Washington, DC – August 27, 2009 — Too often, perfectly good furniture ends up in a landfill. Meanwhile, local non profits are in desperate need of these items. The Washington, DC law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, P.C., recently called on the services of Etreev to find a recipient for their surplus. Etreev was able to connect them with Camp Fire USA Patuxent Area Council in Bowie, MD. Camp Fire USA is a national non-profit organization providing leadership development programs for youth.
“The law firm made it clear that is was important to reuse their excess furniture as opposed to having it sit in a landfill. Their commitment to sustainability is commendable”, said Gregory Korthase, President of Etreev. According to Mr. Korthase, over 4 tons of material was diverted from the landfill.
“We were thrilled that Etreev was able to put us in touch with Camp Fire USA and that they have put to great use, office furniture and other supplies which the firm no longer needed,” said Susan Berson, Managing Member of Mintz Levin’s Washington, D.C. office
“In early June we took possession of a very large building which has become home to our Camp Fire Community Service Center. The building had a few chairs and 3 round tables. Not quite enough to accommodate the young people who would enter our lives for summer camp and summer playgrounds. Then like a blessing from above three very full moving vans arrived filled with … desks, chairs, tables, bookshelves, and file cabinets. These have found a home and are well in use by the children”, Rosemary Pezzuto, CEO, Camp Fire USA Patuxent Area Council.
