A two-vehicle car wreck killed one 15 year-old and injured four others on Labor Day.

Florida automobile accident attorney information-A car crash in Pensacola, Florida involving a Ford Mustang left a teenager dead.

Pensacola, FL–A two-vehicle automobile accident took one teenager’s life and injured several others early Monday morning, September 7, 2009, in Pensacola, Florida. The Pensacola News Journal reports the motor vehicle collision (MVC) took place just south of Belmont Street, on 17th Avenue, at approximately 4:45 a.m. A 1992 red Ford Mustang was heading north on 17th Avenue when the driver, 20 year-old James Hartsfield, lost control of the vehicle. Roadway fatality investigators say the Mustang then drifted sideways into oncoming traffic. A 2000 white Hyundai struck the Mustang. The Hyundai was operated by 72 year-old Vivian Knuth of Pensacola Beach. Knuth was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Hartsfield was travelling with three other occupants: Samuel Sheltema, 17, Dakota Smith, 16, and Tyler McCoy, 15, all of Pensacola. It is unknown whether Hartsfield and his three passengers were wearing their safety belts.

Escambia County area emergency medical services (EMS) team transported Knuth, Sheltema, and Smith to Sacred Heart Hospital. Knuth sustained multiple injuries. Sheltema was listed in stable condition. Smith suffered critical injuries. Hartsfield and McCoy were taken to Baptist Hospital by local area paramedics. Hartsfield sustained multiple injuries. McCoy was pronounced dead by doctors and nurses shortly after arriving at the hospital. Pensacola police officials say charges against Hartsfield have not yet been filed. Speeding may have been a factor in the wreck. The roadways were wet at the time of the accident. Police detectives are investigating the teenagers’ whereabouts before the MVC. Authorities continue to investigate the two-vehicle car crash.
