Vevay, IN—A three-vehicle collision, which involved a school bus packed with students, injured ten people. The multiple vehicle crash happened on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 around 8:00 a.m., along Highway 156 near Tapps Ridge Road, as reported by WLWT.

According to Switzerland County Sheriff’s office, a pickup truck was attempting to avoid a stopped car, when the truck hit the car, and a school bus. The school bus was reportedly transporting 36 high school and middle school students, when the collision occurred. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Tad Max Frost, 63, of Cambridge City, was trapped in his badly damaged truck for 10 minutes until rescue crews could release him. Frost also reportedly suffered several broken bones, and was transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the car, Carianne Wilholte, 35, of Vevay, suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released. Six injured students were reportedly transported by EMS professionals to King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison as a precaution. The six students were treated and released. Parents of two other students took them to a local hospital, where they were also treated and released. The school bus driver, Jerry Monjar, was shaken but not injured. Monjar is credited for keeping the school bus from overturning in the wreck. The three-vehicle collision is currently under investigation by police officials.
