Lufkin, TX—Two people were injured after a car attempted to pass a city bus in North Lufkin. The two-vehicle collision happened on Thursday, September 17, 2009 around 1:15 at Sayers and Davis streets, as reported by the Lufkin Daily News.
According to police officials, a green Mazda Protégé was reportedly attempting to pass a Brazos Transit District bus, who was turning left at Sayers and Davis streets, and consequently crashed into one another. The city bus was reportedly carrying four passengers at the time of the wreck. One passenger on the bus was injured, and was transported by Lufkin Fire and Rescue ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. One occupant traveling inside the Mazda was also injured and was transported by Lufkin Fire and Rescue to the hospital for treatment. Police officials are reportedly trying to determine who was driving the car at the time of the wreck. A passenger inside the car said he did not know who was driving; he claimed he was picked up just right before the crash ocurred. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the two-vehicle wreck. No citations have been issued at this time in connection wit the bus crash.
