Hancock County Sheriff alerts Georgia construction accident lawyers- A construction crew was injured after a set of roof rafters fell on them.

Milledgeville, GA—A construction accident at the Hickory Cove Baptist Church left one person dead and four other injured. The construction accident happened on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, in Hancock County, as reported by Macon.com.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, a Haines Construction crew was injured when roof rafters fell onto the workers as they were setting them in place. The construction crew was reportedly constructing a new building where the accident occurred. The new building was to replace another building that was destroyed by a tornado in February. The falling rafters killed Timothy Tyrone Dixon, 32, of Wrightsville, and injured four others. Two workers identified as James Anthony Hines, 39, of Wrightsville and Edward Lawrence, of Hancock County were airlifted by emergency medical crews (EMS) to Augusta for treatment of their serious injuries. Bobby Chapman, 55, of Crawfordville, was also transported by EMS teams to the Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville for treatment of his injuries. Another worker identified as Christopher Howell, 32, was also injured, but it is unknown if he was transported to a local hospital. Officials with the Federal Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ are expected to conduct a full investigation into the fatal construction accident.
