Las Vegas, NV—A multiple vehicle crash involving a SUV, and a ambulance left one person dead and three others injured. The fatal collision happened on Sunday, September 27, 2009 around 5:00 p.m., at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Bridger Avenue, as reported by the Las Vegas Sub,
According to police officials, a 2003 Ford E-350 ambulance was traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard in the far left lane at the same time a 2005 Pontiac Vibe was traveling east on Bridger Avenue. The ambulance and SUV collided in the intersection. The front end of the American Medical Response ambulance slammed into the right side of the SUV, and both vehicles came to a stop in the northeast corner. The ambulance was reportedly en route to an emergency call with its lights and sirens on when the crash occurred. A 66-year-old woman traveling inside the SUV was killed as a result of the wreck. The driver of the Pontiac, Ricardo Gutierrez-Jimenez, 52, and the passenger inside the ambulance, age 25, were rushed by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Another passenger traveling in the SUV, Aida Gutierrez, 63, was also injured, and was transported by EMS to University Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the ambulance and another ambulance passenger was uninjured in the crash. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the two-vehicle collision.
