Alabama Highway Patrol alerts Alabama automobile accident lawyers-A fatal crash involving a school bus occurred in Sumter County.
Sumter County, AL—A Sumter County school bus crash claimed the life of a woman after her car hit the front end of the bus. The motor vehicle collision (MVC) happed on Thursday morning, October 8, 2009 around 7:00 a.m., on Millville Road, as reported by WTOK-TV.
Thirty-one students were reportedly traveling on the school bus, which was headed north on Millville Road, when a southbound car hit the front end of the driver’s side of the bus. The impact of the collision shattered the windshield, and completely totaled the front end of the bus. Unfortunately, the unidentified female driver of the car was tragically killed in the wreck. Rescue crews had to use the “Jaws of Life” to extract the woman from her severely damaged vehicle. Several students were reportedly injured in the collision and were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to hospitals located in Demopolis and York for treatment. The school bus apparently was headed to York West End Junior High School and Sumter County High School when the fatal crash occurred. The Alabama Highway patrol, York police, and Livingston Police are all investigating the deadly two-vehicle crash. Police officials are trying to determine if speed was a factor.
