Two-vehicle wreck injured 6 in Lakeland

Florida automobile accident lawyer alerts- A crash in Lakeland involved a Chrysler PT Cruiser and a Ford Focus.

Lakeland, FL—A red light-runner is to blame for a two-vehicle wreck, which injured two infants, a toddler, and three adults. The motor vehicle collision (MVC) happened on Monday morning, October 12, 2009 around 10:00 a.m., at the intersection of Lemon Street and Florida Avenue, as reported by ABC Action News.

Lakeland police reported a Ford Focus struck a Chrysler PT Cruiser, which caused it to rollover. Apparently one of the vehicles ran the red light at the intersection, and police officials are trying to determine which vehicle ran the light. Two infants, 4-weeks-old and 6-weeks-old, were injured in the wreck, and were medivac by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Both infants were reportedly properly restrained in their safety seats and did not suffer from any life-threatening injuries.

Three adults, and a 2-year-old were also transported to an area hospital by emergency medical services (EMS) crews for treatment. It is unknown if the 2-year-old was properly restrained in a child safety seat, and who was traveling in each vehicle when the collision occurred. Investigators shut down intersection, while Florida Avenue at Lemon Street while crews cleaned up the scene. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the two-vehicle crash.
