Legal news article for Ohio personal injury attorneys. A 5-year-old girl is in critical condition after being ejected from a buggy.

Ohio State Highway Patrol alerts Ohio personal injury attorneys-A horse-drawn buggy crash involving a tanker seriously injured an Amish girl.

Mount Vernon, OH—A collision between a buggy and a tanker left a 5-year-old Amish girl in critical condition. The tanker crash happened on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 around 9:10 a.m. on Route 62 and Dean Road, as reported by NBC 4.

A horse-drawn buggy carrying three Amish girls, ages 17, 14, and 5, were traveling northbound on State Road 62 when a tanker transporting a load of plastic tried to pass the girls. As the tanker was making the pass, the buggy made a left hand turn in front of the passing tanker. The impact of the crash ejected the unidentified 5-year-old girl from the buggy. Fire Officials reported the young girl’s body was found underneath the tanker upon their arrival. It reportedly took area emergency medical services (EMS) technicians nearly 45 minutes to remove the girl from underneth the truck. She was then transported by medical helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment of her injuries by doctors and nurses. She is reportedly listed in critical condition at this time. It is unknown if the other girls traveling in the buggy were injured in the wreck. The buggy apparently did not have the reflective placard on the back of the buggy, as required by law, but the Ohio Ste Highway Patrol stated there was no indication that the placard would have prevented the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol Mt. Gilead post is investigating the crash.
