Department of Children and Families alerts Florida personal injury lawyers- A special needs child was left on a school bus for seven hours.

Orlando, FL—A mother is irate after she was told that her 3-year-old special needs child was left on a school bus for nearly seven hours. The school bus driver and the assistant have since been arrested and are facing neglect charges, as reported by Central Florida News.

The 3-year-old boy was traveling on an Osceola County school bus to Sunrise Elementary School, when for unknown reasons, he was not taken off the bus with the rest of the students upon arrival at the school. His mother put the boy on the school bus around 6:53 a.m., and he was found still sitting on the bus around 2:50 p.m. The bus driver, Benjamin Gonzalez, and the assistant, Carmen Pacheco, returned the bus to the bus barn at Horizon Middle School without checking the bus first. After nearly seven hours, when the bus driver and assistant went to complete the afternoon route is when they discovered the boy who was still buckled into his seat. The boy’s mother was notified of the mishap that afternoon and was told her son was okay. His mother took the boy to an area hospital to be evaluated by doctors and nurses. The mother also notified the Department of Children and Families of the incident. Both Gonzalez and Pacheco resigned from their positions and were arrested by police officials. The driver and assistant are facing neglect charges and have since posted bond. The incident is under investigation by police officials.
