Legal news for West Virginia employment attorneys. A worker was fatally injured when he got caught in an insulation roller.

Occupational Health and Safety Administration alerts West Virginia employment lawyers- A workplace accident left a worker dead after being caught in a roller.

Martinsburg, WV—A Guardian Fiberglass employee was fatally injured when he somehow became caught in an insulation roller at the company’s insulation plant near Inwood. Bill Willison Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene around 10:15 a.m., at the plant located at 4812 Tabler Station Road, as reported by the Martinsburg Journal.

The lead mechanic, Bill Willison Sr., 50, was reportedly conducting maintenance work on an insulation roller at the fiberglass plant, when he somehow became struck in the roller. The insulation roller is a piece of machinery designed to have paper fed through the rollers. Police officials stated it does not appear that foul play was involved, and have since ruled the death as an accident. Rescue teams had to utilize cutting torches to free Willison’s body from the roller. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical services (EMS) teams. An autopsy is scheduled in Charleston to determine the cause of death. Police officials and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ investigators are conducting a full investigation into the fatal workplace accident.

Guardian Fiberglass reportedly has several facilities throughout North American that produces fiberglass insulation. They are headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and employ more than 19,000 people worldwide in over 21 countries.
