Occupational Health and Safety Administration alerts construction accident lawyers- An embankment collapsed killed a Sioux Falls worker.

Sioux Falls, SD—A worker was buried alive while working in a trench at a Dakota Dunes construction site. The worker was buried under a mound of dirt around 9:53 a.m., on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at 620 Bluestem Trail, as reported by the Sioux City Journal.

According to Union County Sheriff’s Office, a 27-year-old Sioux Falls man and a few other workers were reportedly unloading wall forms in an embankment for a basement, when the embankment suddenly collapsed. The dirt quickly engulfed the worker, who was dug out within four minutes of the accident. Upon being pulled from the dirt, the unidentified worker was unresponsive and not breathing. CPR was immediately administered, and emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed the man by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment by doctors and nurses. By Tuesday afternoon, the worker was pronounced dead when his injuries proved fatal. The workers were reportedly from a Tea, South Dakota construction company. The workers identity has not been released due to the family notification process. It is unknown what caused the embankment to cave in. Officials from the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ are expected to conduct a full investigation.
