Dallas, TX—A 7-alarm fire injured seven firefighters who were battling an intense inferno at an apartment complex, which was under construction. The blaze, which was caused by an electrical short, occurred at the unoccupied Gramercy on the Park Apartments, at the southeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and George Bush Turnpike on November 23, 2009, as reported by the Dallas Morning News.
A total of 140 firefighters responded to the Monday night apartment blaze that ignited around 5:45 p.m. Three brave firefighters were injured when the floor collapsed while the men were battling the inferno. It was not disclosed how the four other firemen were injured. They were all taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries by doctors and nurses. The injured firefighters were treated and released. Dallas area firefighters were still on the scene until early Tuesday to ensure the fire was put out completely. The fire was reportedly hidden within the building’s walls and floor space, which made it difficult to determine whether the fire was extinguished or not. The fire apparently started in the electrical meters located outside of the unoccupied apartment building. Police officials are reportedly investigating the rare 7-alarm blaze.
