The Senate began debating health care legislation on Monday.
Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – The Senate opened its partisan debate on health care legislation Monday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the debate is expected to continue over the course of the next few weeks as Democrats and Republicans each hold steadfast to their positions regarding its passage.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is quoted by the AP as stating in the initial moments of speaking about the health care issue, “We must avoid the temptation to drown in distractions and distortions” in reference to the Republican’s vow to block the passage of the legislation.
Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is further quoted in the report as stating in response to Reid’s statement, “Well, I don’t know what’s more preposterous: saying that this plan ’saves Medicare’ or thinking that people will actually believe you.”
