Lacey’s Shipwreck Beads Going For World Record Asking For The Community’s Help

Olympia, WA – December, 2009 – Shipwreck Beads already has the distinction of having the world’s largest selection of beads. Now one of western Washington’s greatest tourist attractions is setting its sights on a new world record, one that may well land Shipwreck Beads in the Guinness Book of World Records™. Shipwreck Beads will attempt to break the “Longest Chain of Beads” record, currently at 402 feet. This was achieved just last month. The goal? One-half mile of beads, or 2,640 feet.

The official record attempt will take place on December 26 at Shipwreck Beads. Shipwreck Beads’ owner Glenn Vincent said, “This is a serious record attempt, but it’s also a ton of fun and will benefit children in our community. We can’t do it alone, so we are inviting any and all to come out and help us string this enormous chain of beads!” He continued, “We have begun working on it and will continue toward reaching our goal on Saturday, December 26. ” Shipwreck Beads will be open from 9 am until 6 pm every day of the week.

“Shipwreck Beads has committed to donate $.02 to the Boys and Girls Club of Thurston County for every bead in the chain. If the record is earned, that equates to $2,600 for this worthy charity,” said Vincent.
