Legal news for Florida Auto Accident Lawyers. Five year old girl is fatally injured in van rollover, 3 others seriously injured.

A fatal car crash on the Florida turnpike left 1 dead, 3 injured.

An unfortunate automobile accident on the Florida Turnpike in Indian River County resulted in one fatality and three serious motor vehicle collision (MVC) related injuries last Saturday, November, 28, 2009, around 5:13 p.m. as reported by the Sun Sentinel. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Coral Springs resident, Javier Caicedo, 47, was driving south in his 2000 Plymouth Voyager van when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle while changing lanes. The van hit the guardrail on the shoulder of the roadway and continued across cross two lanes of traffic. After going over a center-paved median, the van rolled over onto the drivers’ side, ejecting both Alejandra, 5 and Nicholas, 8 from the vehicle. The automobile only came to a complete stop after slamming into a second guardrail.

Alejandra Caicedo was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic car wreck.

The driver, Javier, along with passengers Nicholas Caicedo and Maria Triano were all airlifted by emergency medical services (EMS) to be treated for their serious injuries. Their post-car crash medical conditions have not yet been reported.

According to FHP officials, both children seated in the rear of the van were ejected, although they were allegedly buckled in their seatbelts as were all of the vans occupants. Southbound traffic was reportedly closed for a total of four hours so FHP officials could thoroughly investigate the fatal car crash scene.
