Legal News for South Carolina SUV Accident Attorneys. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries after colliding with an SUV.

SCHP investigates motor vehicle collision involving fire truck and SUV that injured two.

Summerville, SC—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving a fire truck and an SUV left two firefighters with minor injuries on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, according to the Post and Courier. The two-vehicle wreck allegedly occurred around 1:27 p.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that four firefighters were traveling in the fire truck at the time of the crash. The fire truck was traveling westbound on West 1st North Street towards an intersection, traveling at a speed of approximately 20 mph when a southbound 2004 Toyota SUV, driving on Cedar Street, ran a red light at the same junction. The driver of the fire truck reportedly hit the brakes after being warned that the Toyota failed to stop, and consequently caused the fire truck to hit the SUV on it’s left side.

Responding emergency medical services (EMS) professionals transported firefighters Michael Weatherford and Troy Millen to an area hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. These firefighters reportedly suffered back pain and headaches and were promptly treated and released. The driver of the SUV, 38-year-old Angela Whitman, did not sustain any injuries in the motor vehicle accident. No charges have been filed as of yet though the investigation continues.
