Legal News for Kentucky Personal Injury Attorneys. Three fighters sustained minor injuries in a crash on the way to a call.

Three firefighters injured, power outage reported after fire truck crash.

Oldham County, KY— A fire truck was involved in a single-vehicle crash that left three firefighters injured on the way to an emergency call in which a blaze was reported at a Paramount Estates residency. The wreck allegedly occurred early Saturday morning, January 16, 2010, according to reports WLKY.com. Firefighters from the North Oldham Fire Department were heading west on U.S. Highway 42, reportedly on their way to a call, when the fire truck they were traveling in left the roadway for unknown reasons. The fire truck allegedly struck two utility poles, subsequently turning over onto the passenger side of the emergency vehicle. The incident occurred at the 11900 block of U.S. Route 42 between Club Driver and Goshen Lane.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews responded to the scene of the wreck to transport the injured to hospitals for medical attention. The driver of the fire truck, Chief Rick Albers, as well as Capt. Mitch Slaughter, were both taken to Norton Brownsboro Hospital for treatment. Thomas Woosley, another firefighter occupying the fire truck at the time of the crash, was reportedly taken to University of Louisville Hospital via medical helicopter. Authorities allegedly reported that all three fire department officials thankfully only suffered non-life threatening injuries in the fire truck crash.

A power outage was reported from Oldham County to Henry County as a result of the incident. A part of U.S. 42 was also closed pending further investigations and crash scene cleanup efforts.
