Legal News for Virginia Automobile Accident Attorneys. Estimated 300 gallons of diesel fuel spilled after tanker truck accident.

Virginia automobile accident attorney alerts- Tanker truck accident caused fuel leak in Amelia County.

Amelia County, VA—A tanker truck carrying 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel crashed on Monday, January 25, 2010. The accident occurred in Amelia County, Virginia, on State Route 307, also referred to as Holly Farms Road, according to information provided by WTVR.com. The incident allegedly happened at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Authorities reportedly stated that a tanker truck was traveling on Holly Farms Road, which is described as “the cut-through between Route 360 and Route 460”, veered off the roadway and into the soft shoulder. The tanker allegedly flipped onto its side with the wheels facing upwards. The driver of the tanker truck, a Bronx, New York resident Adama Doumbia, was able to exit the tanker as it began to leak diesel fuel.

The driver of the tanker did not reportedly suffer any life-threatening injuries in the single-vehicle accident. Officials from the Henrico County Haz-Mat and the Jetersville Voluntary Fire Department responded to the potentially problematic scene to off load the diesel fuel, and prevent the gasoline from “spreading to a nearby pond and from reaching cattle near the accident site”. Virginia Department of Transportation (V-DOT) officials also responded to the scene to close Route 307 pending investigations and clean up. The road only re-opened for motorist use at 5:30 p.m. Doumbia reportedly received a citation for reckless driving in the tanker truck accident.
