Legal News for North Carolina Personal Injury Attorneys. School bus and pickup truck collide, two drivers and 42 students suffered injuries.

North Carolina personal injury attorney alerts- North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigates crash involving school bus that injured 44.

Pasquotank County, NC—A total of 44 people were transported to area hospitals to receive medical attention after a violent motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving the school bus and a pickup truck occurred. The wreck occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, according to reports by WTKR.com.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) troopers allegedly reported that the two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 17 and Main Street. A red pickup truck, driven by female motorist, Brenda Daniels, reportedly “smashed into a Pasquotank County School bus carrying more than 40 students.” Consequently, the impact of the collision caused the bus to overturn onto its side.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews responded to the scene to transport the bus driver as well as 41 students to Albermarle Hospital. An additional student and Daniels were reportedly airlifted via Medivac to separate hospitals in Norfolk and Raleigh. The injuries suffered were allegedly described as minor and moderate. A student’s mother responded to the scene almost immediately after the incident occurred, reporting “When I got out of the truck there was a large group of kids screaming, crying, bloody, running around, it was kind of scary.” It is seemingly unknown who is at fault or whether other variables played a role in the frightening collision. Investigations are underway.
