Legal News for Tennessee Personal Injury Attorneys. Young teen fatally injured in sled-car collision.

Tennessee personal injury attorney alerts- Boy hit by car sustained fatal injuries after sledding down steep hill in Knoxville.

Knoxville, TN—A boy was sledding down a hill located next to Sims Road when a car struck him, subsequently cutting his playtime short. The boy, who was with other children at the time, suffered fatal injuries in the violent traffic crash, which occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2010, according to information provided by WATE.com.

Officials from the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) allegedly reported a group of kids sledding down the steep hill, located perpendicular to the roadway. The 15-year-old victim, identified as Aaron May allegedly slid beneath a passing vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Eric Goad, subsequently dragging him a long for the ride. The boy was taken to the hospital where his severe injuries sadly proved fatal. The driver of the vehicle reportedly received a citation for “failing to show proof of financial responsibility and driving on a suspended license”. Alcohol and/or drugs were not suspected as a factor in the fatal incident.

According to a witness account, the neighbor stated, “I think [the driver] was probably so close he couldn’t have seen the kid.” The witness also reportedly noted that children living in the neighborhood seemingly enjoy visiting that particular hill at all times of the year, partaking in activities including bicycling and running. A few hours after the incident, children were reported sledding on the hazardous hill once again.
