Washington State Senate Passes Bill to Ban BPA in Children’s Products
February 2, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ Children’s products containing the chemical Bisphenol-A (BPA) will be banned in Washington State pending a final version of a BPA bill passed in both houses of the legislature. Gov. Christine Gregoire is expected to sign the bill into law once it reaches her desk.
The ban would apply most notably to baby bottles, sippy cups and other children’s food and drink containers. Whether this ban will be extended to products intended for adults, such as sports bottles, will be debated before the final version of the bill reaches the governor’s desk.
A similar ban is being brought before the Oregon legislature as well. Connecticut and Massachusetts already have similar bans in place.
