Illinois personal injury lawyer alerts- Chicago crash caused fatal and critical injuries.

Chicago, IL—A violent two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of three people, including an infant, and left two others critically injured on Monday, February 1, 2010. The deadly motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred at a Kelvyn Park neighborhood junction, according to information provided by WGNtv.com.

Chicago Police Department officials allegedly reported a southbound Toyota, driven by an unidentified 55-year-old man, traveling on North Cicero just prior to the incident. For unknown reasons, the Toyota struck a Honda at the intersection of Cicero and West Parker avenues. Police deputies and Chicago Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene at 9:39 p.m.

An unidentified 21-year-old male allegedly died at the scene of the wreck. Emergency crews reportedly transported 20-year-old Orlando Rodriguez to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his injuries proved fatal at 11:43 p.m. A 13-month-old baby boy was taken to Children’s Memorial Hospital, but also sadly died as a result of injuries sustained in the motor vehicle accident. Two other people involved in the crash were reportedly taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center to be treated for injuries described as critical. The Toyota driver was allegedly cited for reckless driving in the incident. The cause of the crash is currently unknown though accident investigations are underway.

According to statistics provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), there have been 61 fatal crashes, resulting in 71 auto-accident related deaths in Illinois as of February 2, 2010, this year.
