A teenager was reportedly attacked in a bus tunnel as security guards watched the incident without intervening.

Seattle (WiredPRNews.com) – A teenager was reportedly attacked in a bus tunnel as security guards looked on without intervening. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the 15-year-old girl was beaten and robbed as the guards are shown by surveillance video to have observed the incident without stepping in to stop the attack; however the three guards are stated to have called the police to report the occurence.

The victim is quoted by the AP as stating of the attack, “I went to the security and told them that these kids were trying to jump me… I know that I am about to get jumped and I am hanging around the guards to try and get protection. … I thought the security guards would defend me.”

Metro Transit General Manager Kevin Desmond is further quoted in the report as stating of the surveillance video, “We are very disappointed in what people see in that video… It was absolutely unacceptable. I know the Olympic Security folks were also disappointed in the response, but again, the employees were following the letter of the agreement.”

The incident is reportedly under investigation.
