Legal news for Oklahoma train accident attorneys. A crash between a BNSF train and a car injured one person.

Tulsa police are investigating a crash between a BNSF train and a car that left one person dead.

Tulsa, OK—A Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) train struck a car that was stopped on the railroad tracks on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. One person was injured as a result of the train collision that occurred on Harvard, as reported by Newson6.com.

Tulsa Police investigators are currently trying to determine why a car was stopped on the railroad tracks. A westbound BNSF train reportedly struck the northbound car that was stopped on the tracks that ran through Harvard. The crossing arm was apparently lowered onto the hood of the car as it sat on the tracks. Witnesses reported that the man stopped his car on the railroad tracks because a semi-truck was in the same roadway lane on the north side of the train tracks. The train allegedly sounded its warning horn, but the car did not move out of the way before the trains lead car slammed into the side of the vehicle. The driver of the car was rushed by EMSA crews to a Tulsa area hospital for treatment. His injuries were described as non life-threatening. The train-car collision temporarily shut down all BNSF railroad crossings from Independence to Yale while police investigated the scene.
