Oregon personal injury attorneys alert- A Douglas County fire left two firefighters injured with severe burns.

Roseburg, OR—Two firefighters were injured while battling an inferno at the Roseburg Forest Product’s mill in Dillard on Friday night, February 12, 2010. Firefighters rushed to mil around 6:30 p.m., to fight the fire that was burning on the 4th floor, as reported by KPIC.

The Winston-Dillard Fire Department officials reported that six firefighters had gone up to the 4th floor to fight the blaze, while two firefighters entered the room where the fire was burning, when an explosion occurred and created a 75-foot fireball. The blast blew off one side of the room and injured the two firemen. One firefighter, who was from the Douglas County Fire District, suffered burns to his face and eyes while the other firefighter from Winston-Dillard suffered minor burns. The Douglas County fireman was rushed to Mercy Medical Center and was later transferred to the burn center at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland for treatment of first and second degree burns. The other injured firefighter managed to finish his shift before seeking medical assistance at Mercy Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Several area fire departments responded to the fire, along with three ambulances. It is unknown what caused the fire.

The Roseburg Forest Product’s powerhouse is where they allegedly burn wood chips to create power to operate the mill.
