Georgia personal injury attorney alerts- Georgia State Patrol responded to scene of Richmond Hill, GA traffic accident that injured two.

Richmond Hill, GA (News)—A pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision (MVC) left a brother and sister with injuries ranging from serious to critical. The traffic accident occurred on Georgia State Route 144 Sunday night, February 14, 2010, according to information provided by SavannahNow.com.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) officials reported the 13-year-old twins, whose identities were formally undisclosed, were struck upon attempting to cross a section of SR 144 that is five lanes wide. The twins were allegedly leaving Mr. Pizza Restaurant and had to cross the roadway, which allegedly has no crosswalk, to make their way back to Coastal Community Christian Church, located across the roadway. Upon making their way across the road, a vehicle reportedly “struck the girl and propelled her body into her brother knocking him to the pavement”.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews seemingly responded to the scene to transport the injured teens to Memorial University Medical Center to be treated by doctors and nurses. The critically injured girl was reportedly airlifted via medical helicopter while the seriously injured boy was taken to the hospital by a responding ambulance. A sign posted outside the church allegedly says, “Please pray for Eric and Promise”, identifying the teens by their first names. Authorities have not released the victims’ last names. No charges have been filed in connection with the traffic crash.

According to information provided by the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) http://www.nhtsa.gov, there were 21,221 total pedestrian-involved traffic crashes between 1996 and 2003, resulting in 17,976 injuries and 1300 fatalities in the State of Georgia.
