February 23, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ California solar energy giant BrightSource has been conditionally granted a $1.4 billion stimulus loan from the US government to build a nearly 400-megawatt solar power complex in the Mojave Desert.
BrightSource says that during the construction phase of the project 1,000 jobs would be created, 86 of which would become permanent once the power plant is completed. The plant will be built on government land.
The 392 megawatts the plant will ultimately produce will be enough to power 140,000 homes in California.
