Hummer Drives Off into the Sunset
February 25, 2010 /EIN PRESSWIRE/ Hummers may thrive in the dirt and mud, but the time has come to throw dirt on Hummer as GM’s deal to sell the oversized SUV to a Chinese manufacturer has collapsed.
Chinese regulators failed to give approval to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co. to buy the hulking automotive unit. GM said that it will still honor existing Hummer warranties, but the demise of the deal will most certainly lead to the death of Hummer.
Although GM will still listen to last-minute bids, the company will begin winding down its Hummer business. Most likely, Hummer will join Pontiac and Saturn as casualties of GM’s collapse.
