The Sea Shepherd ship’s Steve Irwin and Bob Barker are returning to port after spending 3 months and thousands of miles in the remote waters off Antarctica defending the great whales from the illegal Japanese whaling fleet.
Captain Paul Watson of the Steve Irwin, Captain Chuck Swift of the Bob Barker, First Officers Peter Hammarstedt and Locky MacLean, as well as Greens leader Senator Bob Brown, will participate in a press conference to talk about the success of the Antarctic Whale Defense Campaign: Operation Waltzing Matilda.
Said Captain Paul Watson, “Operation Waltzing Matilda has been our most successful campaign in the six year history of our interventions in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. We have done the best job possible with the resources available to us, and I am confident that we have prevented the slaughter of hundreds of whales.”
