Announcing The Launch Of New Health And Wellness Website WellWise.Org
BOULDER, CO – March 8, 2010 – WellWise.org, a nonprofit foundation launched on March 5th, provides an authoritative new website on supplements, the science behind them, and other health strategies.
“We aspire to become a trusted source of information on supplemental nutrition and news, as well as a meeting place for intelligent consumers, nutritionists, integrative medical practitioners, and researchers in this important field of dietary supplements,” said James Townsend, the site’s editor in chief.
“It is not easy to find real evidence-backed information on supplements and nutrition on the web,” Townsend said. “The vast majority of it is thinly veiled marketing for a specific brand of supplement. We feel the public needs something more objective in order to make informed decisions about health.”
Visitors to WellWise.org will find extensive information on a range of supplements, and the latest on their impact on various health conditions, with links to actual scientific research behind them. The site also features blogs by numerous distinguished scientists, food and nutrition writers, researchers and doctors, some of which include:
Michael A. Schmidt, Ph.D., a NASA consultant and author of six books on topics ranging from brain-building nutrition to the consequences of over prescribing of antibiotics. Dr. Schmidt’s blog, Frontiers in Human Health and Performance, is an ongoing exploration of the science that will shape our future and provide tools for an extraordinary life.
Kimberly Lord Stewart (HealthLines), award-winning investigative food writer and author of Eating Between the Lines: The Supermarket Shopper’s Guide to the Truth Behind Food Labels, reveals the news behind the headlines about food and nutrition.
Brad King (Metabolism Matters), sports-nutrition expert and radio host, and author of the bestselling Fat Wars: 45 Days to Transform Your Body, and the award-winning Beer Belly Blues: What Every Aging Man and the Women in His Life Needs to Know, blogs on everything from cancer to aging.
Kantha Shelke, Ph.D., distinguished food scientist, writes Inside
Food: What You Should Know about What You’re Eating, about the ingredients in our meals and the practices that got them there.
Each month, the site will highlight a “Featured Nutrient”, offering in-depth reporting on the value of and recent science behind the nutrient, as well as video and audio interviews with newsmakers in the world of supplements and nutrition.
