Florida aviation accident lawyer alerts- A pilot and passenger from Alabama were killed in a fatal plane crash.

Santa Rosa Beach, FL (News)—Two people, including a Birmingham, Alabama neurosurgeon, were tragically killed in a small aircraft accident on Saturday, March 6, 2010. The single-engine World War II trainer plane was downed in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately one mile offshore from Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, according to information provided by news stations WKRG.com and WJHG.com.

Reports state Dr. Evan Zeiger was piloting his T-6 Texan warbird aircraft early Saturday afternoon, when for unknown reasons, it crashed about a mile off the northwest Florida Coast. The airplane was apparently “flying in formation with other planes” when it began loosing altitude. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team assisted in preliminary investigatory efforts by finding the submerged aircraft, and recovering the bodies of two accident victims.

Dr. Zeiger and a female passenger occupied the plane at the time of the wreck. Dr. Zeiger’s friend reportedly noted that the passenger aboard the plane was the pilot’s wife Peggy Zeiger, though she has not yet been formally identified. Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are looking into what may have caused the vintage World War II aircraft to become involved in the deadly crash.
