Saltery Lodge Adds Three Unique Day Tours in Ketchikan, Alaska
Private Alaska Tours for Those Who Want Away From the Crowds
Ketchikan, AK – March 8, 2010– Saltery Lodge, known for its high-end Alaska luxury lodging, is now offering three amazing tours of the best parts of Saltery Lodge and its surroundings.
“The majority of people that visit Alaska come on a cruise ship. They are looking for excursions and shore trips that are unique and compelling, ones that are off the beaten path,” said Scott Kemp, owner of Saltery Lodge.
All three of the 4.5 hour tours start with a private guided van ride and then transfer to a private boat to be whisked away on a scenic trip through Clover Pass in Ketchikan, where there is a good chance they will see bears, deer, seals, or whales on the way out. Guests arrive at the lodge and have a choice of three different and unique activities. After their activity, they are treated to a gourmet lunch, house wines and gourmet coffee, and sweet desserts. King crab feasts are available at additional cost.
The first tour is the Saltery Lodge Wilderness Tour. Guests will experience our high-end lodge and its art gallery interior. They will then take a hike on our private 62 old growth acres, which is one of the largest private parcels in Ketchikan, discovering our secret 40 foot waterfall, old cannery graveyard, and watching for bears, salmon, seals, and eagles.
The second tour is unique perhaps in all of Alaska. It is our Photography and Hummingbird Tour. Your host, a noted photographer, will show you how to use your SLR camera to its greatest potential.
Scott says, “There are so many subjects to shoot right here at the lodge, including up close hummingbirds in May and June. Hold one in your hand, and you’ll never forget it!”
The last tour is the guided Saltery Lodge Kayaking Tour. This is unlike other kayaking in Ketchikan as its location is unsurpassed. Scott adds, “There is always some part of the bay that protected from the wind, so our guests won’t fight high seas. We have different sizes of kayaks for different sized people. Even kids will be able to enjoy this activity. My seven and nine year old children had no problem with this.”
All tours are currently priced at $249/person and include all transportation, gourmet lunch, and activities. Minimum group size is 6 persons, maximum is 18. Call for smaller group sizes. Travel Agents welcome. More information can be found at http://www.salterylodge.com/ketchikan-tours.html
