Florida auto accident attorney alerts- FHP to investigate car crash that caused injuries to a bicyclist and two motorists.

East Lake, FL (News)—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving two vehicles and a bicyclist occurred at 4:20 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010, injured three Palm Harbor residents. The crash happened on East Lake Road and Ridgemoor Boulevard in Pinellas County, according to information provided by the St. Petersburg Times.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officials reported John Carr, 66, headed southbound in a 2007 Nissan on East Lake when he made a left turn, colliding with a northbound 2008 Volkswagen. The Volkswagen, driven by Karen Porcaro, 50, proceeded to strike a cyclist in the crosswalk upon impact of the initial collision, only coming to a rest after hitting a concrete pole as well.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews responded to the scene to airlift the seriously injured cyclist, identified as Julian Conley, 65, to Bayfront Medical Center to be treated by doctors and nurses. Carr was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital via ambulance in serious condition as well. Porcaro sustained non-life threatening injuries, which were treated at the scene of the crash. Carr received a citation for an improper turn after the incident, and FHP authorities are expected to continue their probe into the accident.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) http://www.flhsmv.gov, there were 119 bicyclists killed and 4,820 injured in traffic accidents during the year 2004.
