Legal news for bus accident attorneys. Substandard brakes and driver problems cited in bus crash that killed six near Phoenix.

Arizona Department of Public Safety inspectors found factors for Tierra Santa Tours bus crash in Phoenix.

Phoenix, AZ—Arizona Department of Public Safety inspectors have uncovered some underlying factors in the fatal bus crash near Phoenix that killed six passengers and injured 16 others. Inspectors believe that brakes and the drivers were contributing of the fatal accident that occurred on March 5, 2010, as reported by MSNBC.

After a thorough investigation, Arizona Department of Public Safety authorities concluded that a contributing factor of the accident was the bus’ substandard brakes, which should have kept the bus off the road all together until they were replaced. In addition, one of the two drivers aboard the bus didn’t read or speak English well, nor did either driver have a logbook of their previous seven days on the job. The investigation into the bus crash is still ongoing. A specific cause for the wreck has yet to be determined.

As Justice News Flash previously reported, a Tierra Santa Tours Inc. bus was on its way to Los Angeles, from Zacatecas, Mexico when the bus slammed into the back of a Ford F-150 on I-10 near Phoenix, causing the bus to roll down an embankment. Six of the 22 passengers were killed, while 16 others sustained injuries.
