Legal news for California bus accident attorneys. A collision between a MTS bus and a Eclipse injured nine people.

California bus accident attorneys alert- A suspected drunk driver in a Mitsubishi Eclipse crashed into a Metropolitan Transit System bus in San Diego, CA.

San Diego, CA—A collision between a car and a Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus sent nine people to the hospital following the Wednesday afternoon, March 24, 2010, crash. The accident occurred at 37th Street and University Avenue around 3:40 p.m. in City Heights, as reported by Sign On San Diego.

San Diego police officials reported, a red Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling southbound on 37th Street when the car failed to yield to a stop sign at the University Avenue intersection. An eastbound MTS bus subsequently collided with the car. The Eclipse slammed into the bus just behind its front wheel, which caused the car to spin out. The driver attempted to flee the scene, but because of heavy damage, the car stalled a few feet away.

A total of 40 people were on board of the route No. 10 bus when the collision occurred. Nine people were injured as a result, which included complaints of back and neck pains. The victim’s ages ranged from 18 to 51-years old. One other person was treated at the scene by responding medical professionals.

The driver of the Eclipse, who is believed to be a male between 18 and 25-years old, was seen fleeing the scene headed northbound on 37th Street on foot. Police officials are currently trying to identify the suspect, who was believe to be driving under the influence due to a open container of alcohol that was found in the car. A full investigation is currently underway.
