Legal News for Indiana Personal Injury Attorneys. Five people were taken to area hospitals after a residential blaze was ignited near Selma, Indiana.

Indiana personal injury attorney alerts- The Indiana state fire marshal is expected to probe a Delaware County blaze that injured five people.

Delaware County, IN—A violent house blaze left five victims injured on Thursday, March 25, 2010 near Selma, Indiana. The fire occurred at a residence located at State Road 32 and County Road 625 East, approximately six miles away from Muncie, according to information provided by TheIndyChannel.com.

According to officials from the Selma Fire Department, a fire broke out in the home before 5 a.m., causing five people to suffer undisclosed injuries. Reports noted that of the five people initially transported to Ball Memorial Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses, one injured victim allegedly had to be transferred to Wishard Memorial Hospital via medical helicopter. Responding authorities did not release the identities and conditions of those involved in the inferno.

While the Indiana state fire marshal was expected to probe the serious house blaze, fire authorities allegedly believe the inferno was ignited in the home’s living room. Two space heaters were reportedly running in the living room when the house caught on fire.

Statistics provided by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) revealed 3,320 people suffered fatal injuries due to blaze-related incidents in 2008. Fires also reportedly caused more American casualties than all natural disasters combined. The fire death rate in Indiana is 18.3 deaths per million population in 2006.
