Florida train accident attorney alerts- A driver suffered minor injuries after an Amtrak train crashed into her van.

Auburndale, FL—A woman managed to escape serious injury after an Amtrak train struck her vehicle in Auburndale, Florida. The train crash occurred on Monday, March 29, 2010, according to information provided by TheLedger.com.

Police authorities reported 59-year-old Judy Keopsell driving a 2000 Ford Wind van when for unknown reasons, she drove around the closed railroad crossing gates at approximately 2:45 p.m. Upon doing so, her vehicle was violently struck by an oncoming Amtrak train in close proximity to Dairy and Stadium roads, near Auburndale High School.

While the rear driver’s side of the van was crushed in the locomotive-involved collision, Keopsell only sustained minor injuries. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel subsequently responded to the scene to transport her to Lakeland Regional Medical Center to be treated for the non-life threatening injuries she suffered in the accident. She was reported to be in stable condition at the hospital. There were 240 passengers and 15 crew members on board the train when it struck Keopsell’s vehicle on the tracks, though luckily, none of them sustained any injuries.

CSX Transportation engineers were allegedly on site after the train-related wreck occurred to inspect the train tracks and signal, which had sustained some damage as a result of the incident. The train was permitted to be on its way about two hours after the incident. Investigations into the train accident are expected to be underway.
