Kentucky 18 wheeler accident lawyer alerts- NTSB authorities to probe accident that caused 11 people to suffer fatal crash injuries.
Munfordville, KY—A horrifying two-vehicle collision that killed 11 people on Friday, March 26, 2010, was deemed to be the deadliest single motor vehicle accident in over two decades. The fatal crash, which involved an 18-wheeler and a passenger van, occurred on Interstate 65, 75 miles away from Louisville, Kentucky, according to information provided by MSNBC.
Twelve people were occupying a passenger van, which was en route to a wedding in Iowa, when a semi-truck violently struck the vehicle head-on. Reports stated the big rig, whose driver was unidentified, veered over the center median of the interstate, consequently colliding with the oncoming van and then careening into a stone wall. The semi allegedly caught fire on impact of the wall, killing the driver.
Emergency medical services (EMS) crews seemingly responded to the scene, though only two of the vans 12 occupants survived the tragic collision. The 10 fatally injured van occupants were identified as John, Sadie, Anna, Rose, Rachel, Leroy, Naomi, and Jalen Esh, as well as Rachel’s fiancé Joel Gingerich and family friend Ashley Kramer. Three of the crash victims were children, whose ages ranged from one to five.
The unfortunate semi-involved motor vehicle collision (MVC) was apparently the worst Kentucky has seen since a 1988 bus crash, in which 27 victims’ succumbed to the injuries they suffered in the wreck. The Kentucky Senate even observed a moment of silence for those killed in the accident. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is expected to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
