Legal News for Florida Aviation Airline Accident Attorneys. A Miami attorney has filed 28 lawsuits regarding the Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean in June 2009.

Florida aviation accident attorney alerts- Twenty-eight lawsuits were filed in federal court in Florida, in connection with the fatal Air France Flight 447 crash.

Miami, FL—A Miami lawyer is representing the families of approximately 30 victims in 28 lawsuits, all filed in connection with the deadly Air France Flight 447 aviation accident that killed 228 people en route to Paris, France from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The series of lawsuits were all filed in federal court in Miami, Florida, according to information provided by the Miami Herald on Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

While French investigators have yet to find the aircraft’s flight data recorder, or “black box” recorder, many have contended the aircraft’s pitot tube, a device that measures air speed, may have been frozen due to a defective pitot tube heater. The lawsuit alleges Airbus, the airplane’s manufacturer, “knew about problems with the plane ranging from faulty radar to defective speed and ice sensors”. Investigators are still apparently searching for the destroyed aircraft’s flight data recorder.

Eighteen defendants, which included Airbus, Honeywell International, Motorola, GE Aviation Systems, DuPont and Raychem, were named in the lawsuits. The attorney filing the suits reportedly “hopes a judicial panel will rule to consolidate cases filed all over the county to be heard in federal court in South Florida”, seeing as the majority of cases, concerning the fatal June 1, 2009 Air France crash, have been filed Southern District of Florida.

Reports also noted that in a separate case, the family of a Brazilian state prosecutor, who was killed in the Air France Flight 442 accident, was awarded $1.2 million in compensatory damages. However, Air France’s insurance company was expected to appeal that verdict.
