Legal news for California elder abuse attorneys. Two caregivers are under investigation after their patient died.

Elder abuse attorneys alert- Two Oakland, CA caregivers are under investigation for abuse charges.

Oakland, CA—Two West Oakland caregivers are under investigation for the death of a 79-year-old man who they were taking care of. The caregivers were arrested on elder abuse charges, but have since been released pending a more in-depth investigation, as reported by InsideBayArea.com.

The victim, Ronald Del Campo, was being cared for by two people, only identified as a 30-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, when police officials went to his home around 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Upon entering the residence located in the 1700 block of 14th Street, they found Campo in a “grave condition.” He was then rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:58 a.m. Campo reportedly had been suffering from serious health problems, which included malnutrition. Authorities reported the health issues might be related to an illness; an autopsy is currently being conducted to determine the cause of death.

The two caregivers were subsequently held on charges of possible elder abuse. Another caregiver, who used to live with Campo, has been hospitalized at convalescent for a few months, which is when the two younger caregivers took over.
