A driver has been charged with murder after an accident in Lewisville.

Lewisville, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) A driver who ran into another vehicle while allegedly speeding has been charged with two counts of murder. As reported by the Denton-Record Chronicle, a woman and her daughter were killed in the accident on I-35 after the driver, John Patrick Barton, hit them from behind.

As noted in the report, Barton was initially charged with intoxicated manslaughter; however the charges were changed to murder due to his having two prior DWI convictions. Kandace Hull reportedly died at the scene of the accident, while her 13 year-old daughter passed away at a hospital hours later. Her husband, son, and another daughter, who were also in the car at the time, were reportedly taken to local hospitals after sustaining non-life threatening injuries.
