News for Florida 18-wheeler accident lawyers- FHP to investigate Hamilton County, Florida tractor-trailer collision that left three people with serious and critical injuries.

Hamilton County, FL—A motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving two 18-wheelers caused three people to suffer injuries ranging from serious to critical. The violent two-semi crash occurred in Hamilton County, Florida on Monday, April 12, 2010, according to information provided by Gainesville.com.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Corporal Linda Albritton reported a 2002 Freightliner, driven by 58-year-old motorist Rhonda Cockerham, traveling eastbound on CR 152 at approximately 9:10 a.m. Cockerham allegedly ran a stop sign at the junction of CR 152 and CR 141, just as a 1992 Freightliner, driven by 51-year-old Edwin Baez, traveling north on CR 152. Cockerham’s semi-truck consequently t-boned the left side of Baez’s 18-wheeler, causing it to overturn in the roadway on impact. Cockerham’s rig reportedly rolled onto its right side as well.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene of the violent 18-wheeler accident, where two semi drivers and one passenger suffered severe injuries. Cockerham suffered critical injuries in the tractor-trailer wreck and was taken to Shands at the University of Florida to receive medical treatment. A passenger who was also occupying the rig at the time, 59-year-old Elzie Cockerham, suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Shands. Baez was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for serious injuries as well.

FHP officials are conducting a full probe into the 18-wheeler accident to determine if any charges will be issued.
