Joplin, MO—A Newton County accident left five people injured after one crash lead to another that resulted in a four-vehicle collision. Seneca police officers are investigating the wreck that occurred on Missouri 43 south of Seneca on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, as reported by the News-Leader.com.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported, a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada had apparently slowed down while trying to avoid a previous accident when a 1990 Mazda Protege hit the Oldsmobile. The driver of the Mazda, Kevin Robinson, 25, of Neosho, and passengers, Tyler Ori, 15, of Goodman, and Stephanie Thornsborough, 27, of Lamar were all injured in the wreck. Robinson and Thornsborough both sustained injuries that were considered serious. No one inside the car was wearing a seatbelt at the time. The driver of the Oldsmobile, Josh Butler, 17, and passenger Hanna Kuhn, 15, both of Seneca were injured as well and were wearing seatbelts. No injuries were reported among the Dodge occupants or the patrol car.

Both the Mazda and Protege were totaled in the wreck. Police are conducting a full investigation.
