Product liability news: Baby walkers recalled over serious injury threats

Product liability attorneys alert- The CPSC recalled baby walkers for injury hazards.

Los Angeles, CA– Le Hing Inc., of South El Monte, Calif., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov/ has voluntarily recalled baby walkers due to a serious injury hazard. The CPSC announced the recall on Thursday, April 15, 2010.

Nearly 200 baby walkers were recalled after discovering that the walkers can fit through a standard doorway and are not designed to stop at the edge of a step, posing a serious injury or death hazard to babies. At this time no injuries or incidents have been reported to the CPSC. The recalled walkers are intended for babies 6 months and older. The CPSC reported, “The item number L-0809EN is printed on the side of the box. The walkers are blue or pink with a white tray.”

The recalled walkers were sold for between $25 and $28 at small independent retailers and discount stores in California and Arizona from June 2009 through August 2009. Consumers are advised to stop using the walkers immediately and return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.
