Tobacco Companies Held Responsible

Pensacola, FL. April 14, 2010: (WiredPRNews.com) –

Janie Clay started smoking in the ’50’s; when it was cool. When Big Tobacco told all of us it was not only OK, it was good good for you.

Janie Clay died at the tender age of 58, from a drug that tobacco company documents demonstrate they used to manipulate addiction; they consciously used to manipulate smokers.

Janie Clay developed lung cancer from smoking cigarettes – no one disputes that. She was addicted – Big Tobacco says you can quit anytime you want. If you have been a smoker, you know that is a lie.

A jury of good people decided that Big Tobacco should be punished in the only way our justice system permits. This jury decided that Big Tobacco should pay over $3 million in compensatory damages and $18 million in punitive damages because they addicted people; because they lied; because they killed people.

Attorneys Bill Norton, Brian Denney and Hardee Bass of the Searcy Denney law firm, represented the family of Janie Clay. They sought justice and the evidence proved it should be delivered. An Escambia County jury agreed.

For more information on this lawsuit, contact Joan Williams, Director of Marketing, at 1.561.686.6300.
