Legal News for Ohio SUV Accident Attorneys. An inexperienced teen driver drove his SUV into the path of an 18-wheeler in Medina County, Ohio.

News for SUV accident lawyers- A teen driver suffered serious injuries when his SUV became involved in a motor vehicle collision with a semi-truck; faces misdemeanor charge.

Medina, OH—A teenage motorist, who apparently only had three weeks of driving experience, was hurt in a collision with an 18-wheeler on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in Medina County, Ohio. The injurious motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred due to the 17-year-old’s failure to yield while making a turn through an intersection, as reported by Fox8.com.

According to the Medina County Sheriff’s Department, 17-year-old Justin Stanton was driving his sport utility vehicle northbound on Columbia Road (SR 252) when he apparently made a left turn at the junction of Spieth and Columbia roads. Upon doing so, he seemingly failed to notice an oncoming semi-truck. The tractor-trailer consequently smashed into Stanton’s SUV, sending it careening into a utility pole.

As a result, the teenage driver was trapped in his vehicle for approximately 90 minutes as rescue personnel worked to extricate him from the damaged SUV, according to a spokesperson for the Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

Stanton suffered serious injuries but was conscious and even waved to his parents before he was airlifted to Akron General Medical Center via MedFlight helicopter. While it was not stated if the semi-truck driver sustained any injuries in the collision, the Buckeye High School student remained listed in serious condition at the hospital on Thursday morning.

He will reportedly face a misdemeanor charge for his failure to yield upon making a left turn.
