Cleveland, OH—Four people, including three teenagers, were sitting on the grass enjoying the festivities of a day parade when a driver lost control of his vehicle and struck them. The injurious accident occurred on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Cleveland, Ohio’s Slavic Village, according to information provided by Fox8.com.

Reports stated an unidentified 67-year-old motorist was attempting to pull into a handicapped parking spot when his vehicle jumped the curb. Upon doing so, it careened into four people sitting on the grass at Metroparks Washington Reservation. Three James F. Rhodes High School Marching Band members and a chaperone were listed as those struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle apparently hauled a 17-year-old student, identified as Justin Otis, 17, 10 feet before coming to a stop. Cleveland Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who witnessed the horrific pedestrian-involved motor vehicle accident, allegedly noted Otis became pinned by the vehicle during the crash. Kucinich was expected to take part in the Slavic Village Polish Constitution Day Parade.

Cleveland fire rescue personnel responded to the scene to transport those injured to area hospitals for treatment. Otis, who was listed in critical condition after the crash, as well as two other band members and a chaperone were taken to Metro Health Medical Center. While the conditions of the other two students involved were unspecified, one of the band mate’s mothers (the chaperone) reportedly suffered serious injuries in the collision.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident as of yet. Cleveland Metropark Rangers are investigating.
